I sat down with an african american student named Aida Coulibaly and she is in college at temple university in pre med and actually want to pursue a career as an Anesthesiologist which is one of the hardest medical jobs out there. I asked her a few questions about the topic and about her parkour so far and here was here responses of some of them.
DID YOU FACE ANY PROBLEMS WHILE PURSUING YOU MEDICAL STUDIES?
"Well it wasn’t an easy thing for me to do, it even got to a point where I questioned my ability to pursue a career in the medical field but I guessed my passion won over it. As a female of color my goal to represent women like me is really important and I intend to achieve it no matter the cost. Of course it doesn’t come easy, of course you will acconter some hard times but that is what it will take if you want to do this job. I don't see my skin as a problem and nobody else should and even if they do it won’t prevent me from doing what I always wanted and aspire for”
WHAT ADVICE WILL YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO THINKS OF PURSUING A CAREER IN THE MEDICAL FIELD ?
"First and foremost know your worth. You will never survive in a environment like this if you don’t know yourself and the person you aim to represent, don’t believe in the fantasies that you be seeing on the internet or movies, the medical field can indeed be really harsh so you need to be dedicated to your goals and you need to have a strong mental. Do it because you want to, do it because you are passionate about it and not just because you want the money or the “title” you have people's life in your hands after all . Stay motivated and keep your head up and everything will go for the best.”
